The Fine Arts at CSLA are dedicated to enhancing the creative experience of our students through Music, Art, Theater and Dance. Click below to find out more about these programs.

Music is an important part of life, whether creating music or just listening to it. Band is a great place for students to investigate music.

In beginning band students will learn music fundamentals as well as learning to play their instrument.  They will also learn to work with other students to play as an ensemble.  We start students in Band in 5th grade which is Beginning Band.  In 6-8 grade students have the opportunity to play in the CSLA Middle School Band.  In this band we play music that is at a higher level than beginning band.  Students need at least a year of band as a prerequisite Middle School Band.

“Made in the image of God, we, too, are given an ability to create. The Visual Arts Elective is intended to give students an opportunity to explore their creativity. We study line, shape, form, texture, color and space using various mediums, such as: ink, paint, pencil, clay, mixed media and photographic. We do this in the context of various art types, like: realistic, cartoon, impressionism, abstracted or assemblage. To understand the value in creativity, we discuss the feel and inspiration in art, the influence of art in our lives and most importantly, the value in each of us because the Master Creator formed us for His purpose.”

The CSLA Theater Department is dedicated to giving students a chance to be on stage, to develop theatrical skills, to learn what it means to work together as a cast and crew, to develop leadership skills, to foster creativity, and to affect our community with this form of art.
Students will be given opportunity to perform three times throughout the year in our main productions.; The fall production (High School), the One Act Festival (Grades 6 – 12) and our Spring show (6-12) that is performed in Wood-Mar Auditorium at George Fox University.
We offer a theatre course that explores movement, voice, shakespeare, and contemporary acting techniques. Along with the basic acting fundamentals we explore improvisation, devising, and theatre history.
There are many opportunities to be involved behind the scenes as well including Stage Managing, hair and Make-up, set construction and design, publicity, sound, lighting, props, and much more.
Our High School theater program participates in the International Thespian Society, troupe #6539. We compete in the regional competition and send delegates to the State Thespian Conference as well.
